#5 Vet in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire
Nene Veterinary Group – Wisbech is part of a three-branch practice focused on small-animal care, and is listed as a veterinary nurse training facility. Reviews describe routine preventative appointments (annual check-ups and vaccinations) as well as planned surgeries (cat and dog neutering) with a pre-screening step beforehand.
Owners repeatedly mention practical, visit-level details: a “spotless” waiting area and consulting room; staff being calm with a nervous cat; and support over “the last couple of weeks” for a dog needing ongoing help. Feedback is mixed on communication and bedside manner—some describe compassionate care, while others report feeling rushed, unclear on next steps, or that cost was prioritised.

I'm writing to share my concerns about the care my cat received during our recent visit. Unfortunately, I felt that the veterinarian didn't seem to care about my pet and treated it like just a business transaction. It felt like she was more focused on the bill than on my cat's health. There was little warmth or compassion, which was disappointing. After the consultation, I had to ask what I should feed my cat and what I should do next, as I left feeling confused. The vet kept saying that my cat might vomit again after one day, which made me worried. I mentioned that I thought I might need to change her food since she is getting older, but the vet didn’t really respond to that. I decided to change her food anyway, and guess what? My cat stopped vomiting! I do want to mention that the receptionist was very friendly and professional, but sadly, the medical care was not what I expected. It's upsetting that such a crucial job does not always prioritise the well-being of animals. I've had a great vet in the past who truly cared for my pet, and I wish I could have received that same level of care at your clinic.

Angie the vet really good and helpful. Can’t say the nurse was very friendly. Very straight faced. No kindness toward my dog. Shame,

I took Milo for his annual checkup and vaccinations, everything from start to finish was excellent, the staff are really friendly and helpful, the practice waiting area was spotless as was the consulting room. I would recommend this practice to anyone.

For the first time, it was a really good experience, and even in this very first session, it became clear to me that they were doing their work with the utmost compassion. With respect and best wishes for success to the Nene Vets team

We have had both a cat and a dog registered to this vets and have had multiple negative experiences. When our cat was neutered last year, we had a pre-screening where all the questions would be asked and all information would be ascertained regarding the cat. I took the cat on the day to be neutered, fully in the belief that it would be simply a case of speaking to the receptionist and booking him in. However they then began asking me about the DNR status of the cat, I wasn't sure as that would be my wife's decision and they wouldn't go ahead without the information. I had to ring the school my wife was working at to ask her frantically. When I asked why was this not covered in the screening, they had no response. Our most recent visit was a shambles. We had booked our dog in for a neutering. We went to the pre-screening again on the Tuesday night, ready for the procedure on the Friday. Whilst there, the vet made some unusual statements which puzzled us, he also didn't seem to understand what we were saying and the language barrier was simply an issue. My wife phoned up on the Thursday morning to question some things as we were concerned about our dog and wanted to straighten some things out. The vet essentially threw a tantrum at being questioned, and refused to perform the surgery. We then had to fight for a refund on the medication we had bought for the surgery. Thankfully the Peterborough branch were fantastic and helped us through this and the refund procedure. We also asked for copies of all the information on our cat and dog that they held, and the information in our dog's file was laughably incorrect. It almost makes me glad that the surgery was cancelled with the level of comprehension on show. We have since registered our animals with a vet in Spalding. Absolutely use MediVet or Paddons if you are in the Wisbech area.
